ZUMA: National Prosecuting Authority should not prosecute me.
South Africa’s National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) receives a document from President Jacob Zuma saying he should not be prosecuted.
South Africa’s National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) extended the time limit for Zuma to give reasons why 783 counts of corruption linked to a 30bn rand ($2.20bn) arm deal arranged in the late 1990s should not be reinstituted. That same night, they received a document from him.
The last hearing would be on or before the end of this month by the state prosecutor Shaun Abrahams.
In this light, two weeks has been given to the set of people assigned represent and submit recommendation to Abraham. They will be in a position to announce his decision in respect of the matter within this February month.
The Supreme Court of Appeal, in October last year, set aside the 2009 decision by then NPA head Mokotedi Mpshe to withdraw the fraud and corruption case against Zuma.
